New members of the menagerie. The little bantam chickens are sooooo little and mum is rather protective of her little brood. I couldn't resist taking the photo showing the little chicken poking its head out from underneath mum. And last night in the dark I gently placed this little poppet under her. What a joy it was to find that she had accepted it and it is now part of her brood. Flossie also has another member to her family; though she is not feeding Macarthur, just looking after him and teaching him how to be a lamb. The geese also enjoy Flossie's rations.
And my rather naughty goats which constantly put a smile on my face for all the antics they get up to.
Hasn't Topaz grown ?
Despite the weather conditions, there is always something of interest happening....especially when one is surrounded by animals. Some cows have come up to the yards as we have had to open some paddocks up so that the stock can drink as some of the dams are now bone dry. As you can see by their condition, all the stress and worry that my beloved husband is going through, is paying off with the condition that he is able to maintain on the stock. You can see how much grass there is not on the ground.....
Ahhh, is that a rocking horse in the garden? Nope!!! just a nimble goat endeavouring to eat the leaves from a close by tree. I am sure it would have been easier to step off one rock onto the next!
Sitting having a cuppa and staring out the window as we often do, and lo and behold what did we see but a dragon lizard laying her eggs. When she had finished you would not have known that she had been there, the area was returned to its former state. Amazing to say the least. We felt like Richard Attenborough as we watched and photographed...and all in our backyard.
