Yeah! it has rained! A whole 10mm! How exciting! It is a start. Today I will shift some cattle (my dairy herd - so therefore I have to do the shifting!) and then I need to make some soap and hand cream. I made some finger nail cream the other day and it is great: a teaspoon each of caster oil, lemon juice and olive oil. Rub it in twice daily.
On the strength of last week's Mother's Day Camp Oven Dinner, we had guests this week for another camp oven dinner experience. The weather in the afternoon was brisk, and as evening crawled in slowly, the wind abated and the air was still and crisp - perfect for sitting around the warmth of the open fire. The ambience, the meal and company proved once again to be the ingredients of a successful evening.
Needless to say that my camp oven cooking skills continue to be honed. It is rather tricky judging the amount of coals and time required.
Ian preparing the fire and below, our guests, ready to shovel coals for the camp oven.
What a glorious evening we had sitting around the camp fire with our guests. The ambience of the fire, the tales, the brilliance of the night sky to gether with the delicious food made for a wonderful evening.
As the weather continues to be glorious, what better way to celebrate Mother's Day than to spend a weekend enjoying the peace and tranquillity of a rural setting. As a special treat for staying with us over the Mother's Day weekend, we are offering a complimentary camp oven dinner. A delightful evening will be had sitting around the campfire, toasting marshmallows, enjoying the ambience of the evening and gazing upon the myriad of stars in the evening sky. So hurry and book now to ensure your place.
